5 Job Roles That Are Future Proof

“85% OF JOBS THAT WILL EXIST IN 2030 HAVEN’T BEEN INVENTED YET”. Institute for the Future

Robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, virtual and augmented reality, and cloud computing are expected to transform how we live and work in the coming decades. At the same time, as technology advances, some jobs may become obsolete.

So how do you train in a job role that doesn’t exist, and should you consider this when choosing to enter higher education from high school or retrain?

This post looks at some future proof job roles that are worth considering for your future career.

Chef

Cooking exquisite dishes in a fast-paced environment is something that thus far isn’t something that can be replicated by AI (artificial intelligence). There will always be a need for chefs to cook for people as long as people need to dine out at restaurants. Plus, people will always need to eat, and the skills of a chef will never go out of fashion in the working or home environment.

Healthcare

While certain aspects of healthcare can be automated and will be hugely beneficial in the medical field, many things cannot be replicated by technology, including the bedside manner and human interaction. Empathy, communication, and logical thinking based on communication cannot be programmed. This means that there will continue to be a need for workers in the healthcare industry, be it as a nurse, doctor, pharmacist surgeon, etc.

Product Management

Product management is an organisational function that guides every stage of a product’s lifecycle, from development to positioning and pricing, by focusing first and foremost on the product and its customers. To create the best product possible, product managers advocate for customers within the organisation and ensure that the market’s voice is heard and heeded.

This role requires the human touch to understand the needs of the market fully and fully understand what the product needs to do. Make sure to get a Product management certification to take advantage of this role that has a place now and in the future.

Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity experts play a critical role in securing information systems. Cybersecurity specialists protect systems from cybersecurity risks, threats, and vulnerabilities by monitoring, detecting, investigating, analysing, and responding to security events.

Due to an increasingly digital world, a cybersecurity expert is guaranteed to be a job role that is future proof as long as you are fully on top of updates, changes and technology in your field. You can have your finger on the pulse of cybersecurity for many years to come.

Data Experts

Although a lot of data science is about complicated algorithms and code, the real key to data science is finding stories and patterns in all that data, which data scientists are experts at.

While routine and repetitive jobs are the most vulnerable, it appears that the safest career paths are those that involve creativity, people management, strategy, or decision-making – things that humans are good at and that are difficult to replicate with a machine.
